Traceroute
Traceroute: Une opération de trace de l'envoi de paquets pour déterminer l'information; retrace l'itinéraire des paquets UDP pour l'hôte local à un hôte distant. Normalement, traceroute affiche l'heure et le lieu de l'itinéraire emprunté pour atteindre son ordinateur de destination.

IP address: Each computer that is connected to the Internet has a clearly identifiable, numeric address, the IP address, comprising four sequences of digits that are separated by periods, e.g.: 217.247.84.89 (example: T-Online). Static IP addresses enable the same computer to be contacted under the same address at any time (e.g., by a web server). Dynamic IP addresses are allocated for instance to T-Online customers dialing up to the Internet. They receive an unoccupied IP address which will not be the same every time.
Ethernet: Also known as CSMA/CD, it is a networking technology which relies upon collision detection to back off from simultaneous transmission. Operating at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet) and 1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet), it is the single most commonly deployed networking technology in the LAN, and the primary one used in UCInet LANs. Ethernet is a layer-2 technology.
